Family Rules: Scrabble Style

I LOVE vintage style games and have been collecting them for some amazing projects in the future (um....whatever those projects are).
This one isn't so much vintage as just plain cool.  I purchased this game about 2 years ago and it has been sitting on my game shelf since then.  I could almost hear the game crying out with excitement as I lifted it's battered casing from the top shelf of my daughter's closet.  "She's finally gonna play with me," it shouts.  Play?  Nope, I had something much better in mind.  The first thing I needed to do was sort the letters so I could more easily find what I needed.
I laid out my letters, arranging how I wanted them to go and rearranging and coming up with new words and getting a little frustrated cause I couldn't find all the letters I needed.
In the end, I was only short one letter: P.  I will admit that I was a bit frustrated for about one, maybe eight, minutes but then had my lightbulb moment.  I could take this:
Add a little paint....and get this (paint is still drying, but there is no rest for the weary).
Not bad, right?  It looks even better from further away.
Check that out: it's our family rules.  I had several "words" in mind and was glad that I could fit most of them on the board.  Yea!  Now I've got to find the perfect place to display it.  That will wait until after Christmas.  This project was so super easy but the effect is something I can be proud of.  AND, because I used hot glue, I can easily peel off the letters when I'm bored and play another round of scrabble.

I love Scrabble! What a great way to reuse the game!!! Love the painting the R to make it a P. I would have been stumped and tried to find another old Scrabble to buy.

cool! I hate to tell you though, your 'laugh' has 2 A's.

Out of the half a dozen to a dozen Scrabble Boards that I've bought there has only been one that was maroon like that one.

I've made something similar but it is more of a memory collage:

Thanks for noticing, Marseille ;) but no worries. I double checked the finished board and I was able to catch the double A before I had actually glued the pieces on.

Oooh nice to see Scrabble ideas that are non-jewelry! I'm a Scrabble hoarder ... pick up the old games whenever I see them at the thrifts and have all the letters in a huge canning jar and the boards in a box and the holders in another box. Just waiting for something to pop up and hit me I guess. I love the fact that yours has red letters! I've never seen one of those!! :)

I collect old Scrabble games just for the letters. I have extra "Ps" and "Rs". Email me and I'll send them to you if you wish.
