Coasters Your Grandmother Would Be Proud Of

I had mentioned before that I had picked up a few extras at Salvation Army.  This is one of those extras:

Yep!  Another 95 cent find.  My kitchen was decorated with apples....many years ago.  I am so past that now.  I got some of my Cosmo Cricket paper (not much left now) and set to work.

First, I painted just to hide some of that bold checkered apple pattern.  You know I would have skipped this step if it had been possible...but those were some strong colors and patters.

 Added the paper.

I painted and distressed the coaster holder viola.  I'm thinking of holding this one as a gift.

WOW!!! I would have just walked right by those. It's amazing what you can do with a little paper! I love the new look of the coasters soooo much. I especially love the spring-y colors you chose.

Those are so cute, Lyndee. Did you cover them with a sealant of some kind?

Those look great! They would make a great gift. I, too, would have walked right past without seeing the potential..

Very clever to see the potential in those ugly coasters. I love the new ones! The papers you chose are so fun and would brighten my day everytime I used them. Thanks for sharing!

To distress the edges of the coasters, I just used a chalk ink. LOVE the stuff! It was given to me by someone. Those those type of gifts.
